While not a binding law on how companies need to report on carbon, the SEC has now issued guidance on how corporations should disclose their climate impact. I would see this as step in the right direction of more formal and binding disclosure coming soon.

Another one to watch for carbon disclosure is the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).
